Mohegan Bluffs

This piece interprets the sound of the crashing of heavy water, the rustling of the pebbles as they are thrown to the shoreline and the wind pushing into the arc of each wave. It is Mohegan Bay in Block Island, Rhode Island where the competing noises makes a symphony of ocean music. I weave the spray from the waves swirling into the air, flicker there for a bit gathering momentum from the wind and finally crashing into the shoreline. The rocks and seaweed sway from side to side and then dig deeper into the sand making room for the water to make its way back to the ocean bed. The idea that a woven piece fully captures the movement and the materials speaks to the wonderful versatility of this medium.
